PRESS RELEASE As per the directions of NALSA, and approval of the Hon’ble Executive Chairman, this Authority  identified 14 Districts viz., Chengalpattu,   Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Madurai, Nagappatinam, Sivagangai, Theni, Tiruppur, Tiruchirappalli, Tirunelveli, Tiruvannamalai, Vellore, Villupuram and Virudhunagar  for establishment of  Legal Aid Defense Counsel System (LADCS).  LADCS system is in line with public defender system and will be fully operationalized in all the Districts in current financial year in  phased manner. The Hon’ble Mr Justice T. Raja Acting Chief Justice / Patron – in – Chief, TNSLSA has inaugurated  LADCS in 14 Districts through  Video Conferencing today.

sekarreporter1: In today’s hearing of Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay V Union of India also known as the religious conversion matter, Senior Advocate Mr. P Wilson representing the state of Tamil Nadu argued that the writ petition was politically motivated as petitioner is a BJP spokes person. Petitioner is facing sedition charges has suppressed filing of earlier cases for same prayer which was dismissed as withdrawn. He also submitted that TN state has to be heard as the partitioner has made serious charges against Tamilnadu Government about religious conversions at least at 3 different places in affidavit. He also submitted that the matter pertains to public order which is found in entry I List II and therefore it’s a state subject
