Thiru T Senguttuvan DMK candidate who has lost the 53 Krishnagiri constituency election has filed Election Petition before Madras High Court Today.
The DMK candidate lost the election with a meagre margin of 794 votes, to Thiru K Ashok Kumar belonging to AIADMK party who is the returned candidate,
The DMK candidate obtained 95,256 votes and the AIADMK candidate has obtained 96,050 votes and AIADMK candidate and elections were declared on 2.5.2021.

The DMK candidate has prayed to declare the elections of returned AIADMK candidate as illegal, void and sought to set aside the same and also prayed for a declaration that he has been duly elected to 53, Krishnagiri Assembly Constituency .

The Election petitioner has stated that about 605 postal votes were rejected during counting illegally by the Returning officer to help the AIADMK candidate win despite objections without any legal and tenable grounds ; that the AIADMK candidate has suppressed about his land holdings in his FORM 26 affidavit and that the nomination of the 1st Respondent has been improperly accepted by Returning officer ; that illegal gratification were paid to secure the votes by AIADMK candidate and hence guilty of corrupt practices ; that the AIADMK candidate incurred expenses which exceeded the permissible limits of expenditure
