[12/17, 11:28] Mohanakrishnan President Mhaa: The Members of the Madras High Court Advocates Association are shocked to note that some of the District Courts functioning in the City Civil Court Complex are being shifted to the Allikulam Complex. The Bar was not taken into confidence. We would have given our views and workable suggestions if we were informed. In fact the Invitation to the Association in respect of the Function that is to be held tomorrow at 5 p.m. was received by them only today. Members of the MHA Association are practicing both in the Madras High Court as well as Courts situated in the City Civil Court buildings. Madras has the special privilege to have a combined court Complex for long time and the same should be preserved with modern changes.
The Courts in the same compound enables the advocates to conduct their cases in all the courts with ease.. The Advocates would be put to irreparable hardship due to shifting of the Courts from City Civil Court Complex to Allikulam complex. We would have been keen you express the practical difficulties if consultations were held with the Association before initiating the Move to shift the Courts to Allikulam Complex.
There is no proper facilities in the Allikulam complex which is predominantly a Business complex only. It is not a place for Court. Makeshift arrangement made while constructing egmore complex cannot be a reason to use the premises much to the inconvenience of all stake holders. The Members of the Madras High Court Advocates Association opposes the move to shift the District Courts in the City Civil Court Complex to the Allikulam Complex.
We therefore request not to shift the District Courts functioning in the City Civil Court Complex to the Allikulam Complex in the welfare of the Advocates and call for discussion with the Bar and decide in the best interest of all concerned.
