The Supreme Court today(May 27) upheld the legality of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls done by the Election Commission of India and observed that electoral SIR advances the Constitutional imperative of free and fair elections.


											
					Justices G.R. Swaminathan and V. Lakshminarayanan of #MadrasHighCourt order that T. Devanathan Yadav of Mylapore Hindu Permanent Benefit Fund must be examined at JIPMER, Puducherry today to find out the duration for which he would require medical treatment for various ailments. The judges call for a report from JIPMER by May 29, 2026. The petitioner is under incarceration at the Cuddalore prison at present in connection with a case booked for having cheated over 5,000 depositors to the tune of around ₹600 crore @THChennai Backgrounder👇  thehindu.com/news/national/….
									
											
					Justice G.R. Swaminathan of #MadrasHighCourt says, yesterday, a court bailiff, who went to serve summons on the DVAC director A. Arun, was made to wait in the latter’s office for two hours between 3:05 pm and 5:15 pm. The judge summons the police officer’s staff who made the bailiff wait for so long. Till then, the case is passed over. The staff, who made the bailiff wait, must appear before the court today itself, the visibly angry judge insists. Though Mr. Arun appeared in person today and Government Counsel R. John Sathyan attempted to make some submissions, the judge refused to hear them until the staff concerned appears before the court. @THChennai Backgrounder👇
