BREAKING Justice G.K. Ilanthiraiyan of #MadrasHighCourt orders that customers can lodge police complaints if TASMAC retail liquor shops in Tamil Nadu collect excess amount from them and that necessary action must be taken on those
complaints. Passes the order after TASMAC informs the court that it had already issued a circular instructing all of its retail liquor shops to issue receipts for every liquor bottle sold by them. Judge says if the circular is not followed in letter and spirit and liquor shops continue to collect excess amount, then police must initiate action against the individuals concerned. When supermarkets issue bills even for sale of a single toothbrush and when the State of Kerala ensures issuance of bills by retail liquor shops, why can’t it be done in Tamil Nadu, the judge wonders. He also orders deployment of police in all liquor shops across the State. @THChennai Backgrounder👇thehindu.com/news/national/…
