r1: DVAC files a counter affidavit before #MadrasHighCourt Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G. Arul Murugan in response to a contempt of court petition filed by AIADMK Rajya Sabha member I.S. Inbadurai against DVAC for not registering FIR regarding a cash for jobs scam in Minister K.N. Nehru’s Municipal Administration and Water Supply department. Chief Justice asks why order was not complied with and a FIR was not registered. Justice Arul Murugan says the court’s February 20, 2026 order is very clear. “Our order says, register the FIR forthwith,” he adds. The order is staring at you. You must have either taken our order on appeal or registered the FIR. How can you not register the FIR at all thereby frustrating the entire purpose, he asks. “Either comply or avenues are open. Pursue something,” he says. Senior Counsel N.R. Elango says DVAC has to take the approval of the government as per the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. CJ asks where is the question of approval when it was the court which had ordered registration of FIR. CJ asks why the court order was not taken on appeal if the DVAC was not willing to register the FIR. Advocate General P.S. Raman says a review petition filed by the State government on February 26, 2026 is yet to be numbered. Judges adjourn the hearing on the contempt petition to April 20, 2026 by when A-G says the review would also be listed. @THChennai for admk advts ragavachary and prasath
