Honble full bench consisting of Honble Mr. Jutsice P.N. Prakash, Mr. Justice G. JAYACHANDRAN and Mr. Justice N. Sathish Kumar, spent their valuable time patiently hearing the matter at length and reserved the case for orders in as to how to proceed the investigation further. The Honble court also further said that the primary motive is only to find the accused and punish him in accordance with law. The state was directed to file a response for the report of the special investigation team before 18.01.2021.

During the course of the hearing, Chief Justice Banerjee orally remarked, “Your religious rites have to be subject to public interest and the right to life. The right to religion is not higher than right to life … If government has to take measures in pandemic situation … we will not seek to interfere…. With the little that we have heard you, with the present scientific assistance … how can we come to your aid? … Now that we have the help of science, let us use science to promote your religious festivals…”
