Chennai lawyers inducted into UKILP advisory board

Two Chennai-based lawyers have been inducted into the Dubai advisory board of the UK-India Legal Partnership’s (UKILP) initiative for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

A UKILP press release said designated senior advocate Abdul Saleem and advocate S Elambharathi owing to their decades of Bar experience and exposure to various genres of law.
Welcoming them into the board, Ajit Mishra, chairman of UKILP, said their extensive experience and strong connections in south India would be invaluable in strengthening links and creating new opportunities between India and the Gulf countries.
“Most lawyers’ networking groups tend to be North India or Mumbai-centric. Abdul Saleem’s appointment gives us a strong presence in South India,” he added.

The UKILP is a network of senior lawyers, bringing together leading voices from the UK, India and the Gulf region. Its mission is to strengthen international cooperation, share best practices, and create new opportunities in the legal and business communities.

Abdul Saleem has been a practising lawyer since 1995 and was designated as a senior advocate by the Madras high court in Jan 2023. He has expertise across constitutional, administrative, civil, criminal and commercial law. He was a special govt pleader for Tamil Nadu, counsel for all public sector oil companies, and counsel for the state power generation and transmission undertakings.
Elambharathi has expertise in real estate, software and energy sectors and is counsel for electronics companies. He is the counsel for film stars and celebrities like Rajinikanth.
