CHENNAI: Alleging that the election authorities were delaying release of results
even after conclusion of counting in rural local bodies where DMK
had performed well, the party on Thursday made an urgent mention before the Madras high court
seeking its intervention.Ad
Making the mention on behalf of DMK, senior counsel P Wilson submitted that in areas like Edappadi, Sangagiri, Mettur, Karur and Dindigul, officials were delaying release of results even though counting was concluded.
These were the areas where DMK had performed well, he added and sought the court to hear it on an urgent basis by 4.30pm.
However, citing the new high court rules that prohibits entertaining pleas that are filed after 2.30pm of any given day, a division bench of M Sathyanarayanan and Justice R Hemalatha said they would hear the plea on Friday.
