Kumaresh Babu of #MadrasHighCourt permits incumbent Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar, former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, former Minister R. Vaithilingam and former Member of Parliament P.H. Manoj Pandian to withdraw the civil suits filed by them in 2022 and 2023 regarding the intra party disputes in AIADMK. Since then, much water had flown and most of these plaintiffs had left AIADMK and joined either TVK or DMK. The judge also permits withdrawal of a suit filed by AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami in 2023 to prevent Mr. Panneerselvam from interfering with the party affairs. Justice Babu recalls how he had sat even on a Sunday to hear one of the suits in 2022. “These cases started with me and they have ended with me,” he says. @THChennai Backgrounder👇
