Judge creates unwanted situation by this article. Whether a Judge requires periodical mental checkup or psychiatrist counselling? The theory of responsibility, stress etc. can be applied even to advocates, police administrators and others.Certainly Judge has got more responsobility but does not mean it will lead to mental ill health. More than thirty years I was a lawyer and as a Judge for about 7 years. Once I come to know
my client is innocent and falsely roped in a murder case my responsiblity and stress was more. As a Judge I did not find any difficulty in discharging my duty. Even if I had a chance for another 7 years I would not have required any counselling. Ofcourse a judge should not be biased or preconceived. For that psychiatrist is not required. In some countries age of retirement is 70 or lifetime. If parliament takes note of the article the age of retirement may be extended only after mental checkup. I feel and with great respect I say it is unwanted writing by Mr. Justice Anand Venkatesh.
