[08/08, 10:13] Sekarreporter: The Hon’ble Leader of Opposition Thiru @RahulGandhi avl has levelled serious allegations of voter fraud and coordinated manipulation of voter rolls by the BJP & Election Commission of India. Meddling with the electoral process to enable the victory of a particular political party is undermining the foundations of our constitutional democracy and we must come together with every ounce of courage and determination to fight it.
The LoP has shown the nation the data. The ECI & BJP cannot hide behind empty rhetoric and usual diversionary tactics. Let them come forward with a point by point rebuttal. The people of the country deserve an answer.
Meanwhile I’m surprised to see the tone and tenor of the reply of the Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka. He has asked the LoP to file an affidavit and objection under Rule 20(3)(b). I’m surprised that a CEO does not know that Rule 20 enquiry has a period of limitation as per rule 12 which is 30 days after publication of the draft rules. It cannot be done now. So why ask the LoP to make such an application? For playing to the gallery? Why is he talking about election petitions? Surely a CEO’s first concern should be purity of electoral process and not safeguarding the victorious BJP MPs?
The LOP has explained why the @INCIndia couldn’t lodge these complaints earlier. It’s because ECI doesn’t share OCR format data. Each page of the lakhs of pages of voter rolls cannot possibly be scrutinised manually, especially during election season. Also, no one expected the ECI to commit such gross illegality and constitutionality monstrosity.
Now that voter fraud to an unprecedented level has been unearthed and proved with data by the LOP, enquiry by the very same officers who enabled such illegalities will not be effective or just remedy.
