Madurai Bench of Madras High Court Disposes of Medical Negligence Writ Petition; Petitioner Granted Liberty to Seek Compensation
Madurai, July 9:
The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court today disposed of W.P.(MD) No. 19279 of 2026, a writ petition concerning allegations of medical negligence, after hearing the matter before Hon'ble Justice C. Saravanan.
During the hearing, counsel appearing for the fifth respondent informed the Court that show-cause notices had already been issued to the sixth and seventh respondents, seeking their explanations regarding the allegations. It was further submitted that appropriate action would be taken based on their responses.
Taking note of the submission, the Hon'ble Court directed the concerned authorities to proceed in accordance with law and take appropriate action.
The Court further observed that if the petitioner, Ms. Kavitha, had suffered hardship, mental agony, or financial loss on account of the alleged medical negligence, she would be at liberty to approach the appropriate Consumer Commission or any other competent court for compensation in accordance with law.
With the above observations and directions, the Hon'ble Court disposed of W.P.(MD) No. 19279 of 2026.
