This writ petition has been filed challenging the impugned G.O. (Ms). No. 03, Natural Resources (MMC.2) Department, dated 22.01.2026, issued by the second respondent and quash the same as illegal, arbitrary and consequently to direct the first respondent to initiate action against the authorities who failed to monitor the illegal quarrying activities in accordance with law.
2.Mrs.S.Jeyapriya, learned Government Advocate takes notice for the respondents.
3.Registry is directed to post this case on 23.02.2026 immediately after admission.
4. In the meantime, taking into consideration the fact that a sum of Rs.25/- per metric ton is collected as seigniorage fee and, in the event of excess quarrying, compounding fee is levied. For quarrying carried out legally within the permitted limit, the applicable rate is Rs.60/- per metric ton, there shall be an order of status quo.
