DGP, TN has filed a status report before Supreme Court pursuant to its direction to TN Govt to file a report on the action taken on the complaint lodged by BJP advocate G. S. Mani seeking criminal and legal action against those spreading defamatory content against Justice G. R. Swaminathan. Following the order granting permission to light the sacred lamp at Thirupparankundram Hill, illegal protests were conducted in front of the Madras and Madurai High Courts against Justice G. R. Swaminathan. In this connection, based on the Supreme Court’s directions, criminal cases were registered on 28.01.2026 against the protestors, as well as YouTubers of the YouTube channel and their associated channels.

திருப்பரங்குன்றம் மலையில் தீபம் ஏற்றுவதற்கு அனுமதி அளித்து உத்தரவிட்டதை அடுத்து, நீதிபதி ஜி ஆர் சுவாமிநாதனுக்கு எதிராக சென்னை மற்றும் மதுரை உயர் நீதிமன்றம் எதிரே சட்டவிரோத போராட்டம் நடத்தியவர்கள் மற்றும் U2brutus Tribes யூடியூப் சேனல் யூடியுபர்கள் மற்றும் அவர்களது யூடியூப் சேனல்கள் மீது உச்சநீதிமன்ற தீர்ப்பையடுத்து 28.01.2026 அன்று கிரிமினல் வழக்கு பதிவு செய்து சம்பந்தப்பட்ட சேனலை முடக்குவது சம்பந்தமான நடவடிக்கையும் எடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாக உச்ச நீதிமன்றத்தில் தமிழக பொறுப்பு டிஜிபி அறிக்கை தாக்கல்.
இனி வரும் காலங்களில் நீதிபதி ஜிஆர் சுவாமிநாதனுக்கு எதிராக அவதூறு பரப்புவோர் மீது கடும் நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க உத்தரவிடப்பட்டுள்ளதாக அறிக்கை தாக்கல்.
இது சம்பந்தமான வழக்கு நாளை 02.02.2026 அன்று உச்ச நீதிமன்றத்தில் மீண்டும் விசாரணைக்கு வர இருப்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

Following the order granting permission to light the sacred lamp at Thirupparankundram Hill, illegal protests were conducted in front of the Madras and Madurai High Courts against Justice G. R. Swaminathan. In this connection, based on the Supreme Court’s directions, criminal cases were registered on 28.01.2026 against the protestors, as well as YouTubers of the “U2brutus Tribes” YouTube channel and their associated channels.
Further, steps have also been taken to block the said YouTube channels, as reported by the officer-in-charge DGP of Tamil Nadu in the affidavit filed before the Supreme Court.
The report further states that strict action has been directed to be taken against anyone who spreads defamatory content against Justice G. R. Swaminathan in the future.
It is noteworthy that the case relating to this matter is listed for further hearing before the Supreme Court tomorrow, i.e., on 02.02.2026.
