ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by the Hon’ble Chief Justice)

We have heard learned counsel for the respective parties at length.

2.          The stretch of land on either side of the road is either land appurtenant to the temple or land belonging to the first respondent/United India Insurance Company.  The dispute has brought the progress of the Metro Rail project to a standstill.

3.          It is important to ensure that the Metro Rail project is implemented, as it will be for the larger benefit of the public.

4.          Keeping that in view, we intend to explore the possibility of resolution of dispute.  For this purpose, learned counsel appearing for the fourth respondent/Chennai Metro Rail Limited and the first respondent/United India Insurance Company may submit their respective pictorial representations and diagrams on scales on the following amongst other details:

(a)   The existing length and width of the open land available with the first respondent/United India Insurance Company.

(b)   Reduction in length and width of the open land available with the first respondent/United India Insurance Company in case acquisition takes place.

(c)   The height of the proposed structure of the Metro Rail project in front of the building of the first respondent/United India Insurance Company.

5.          The parties shall exchange their documents, maps, etc., at least two days before the next date of hearing.
