Justice GK Ilanthiraiyan of the Hon’ble Madras High Court. Directed MGR university to constitute committee

Short note:

5 Writ Petitions filed in the Hon’ble Madras High Court against public authorities and a private medical college seeking return of her original school educational documents, acceptance of internship log book submission, issuance of final documents pertaining to the MBBS course, waiver of fee demand made by Respondent no. 9 college for fifth year and constitution of grievance redressal committee in MGR Medical University.

The matter was listed as item no. 9 before Hon’ble Justice GK Ilanthiraiyan of the Hon’ble Madras High Court. Also the Hon’ble Madras High Court directed the MGR medical University to constitute the grievance redressal committee for transgender persons as per the transgender persons (protection of rights) rules, 2020, which was the relief sought for in the 5th Writ Petition. This is perhaps the first time, a HC has directed that a committee for grievance redressal for transgender persons be constituted in an medical educational institution in Tamil Nadu.
Petitioner: Vignesh D
