W.P. No. 33438 of 2025 was listed for hearing today (25.10.2025) before the Hon’ble Chief Justice Bench, Madras High Court. The Writ Petition was filed seeking to remove the encroachments in the 3 canals that drain into Pallavaram Periya Eri (1. Canal from GST Road opposite to Vetri Theatre passing under Chormepet railway track; 2. Canal beginning at Tambaram Taluk Government Hospital in Chrompet merging with Canal; 3. Canal starting near Ponds Company signal in Pallavaram). The Respondents filed their counter identifying 81 encroachers for which eviction and demolition notices were issued in the year 2024 itself . Upon hearing the arguments advanced by the counsel for the Petitioner, Advocate Mrs. Y. Kavitha and the Government Pleader the Hon’ble Chief Justice Bench was pleased to allow the Writ Petition with a direction to the Respondent Officials to remove the identified 81 encroachments in the canal within a period of 4 months.
