According to the petitioner, the 70-year old school was established on the land assigned by the then collector of Chengalpattu on May 14, 1959.
This is the only government-aided school within 5km vicinity of Villivakkam. While so, to the shock and surprise of the residents of the area a board was erected in one partition of the school informing that new classrooms will be constructed in the portion of land and the old school building will be demolished, the petitioner said.

An inquiry made by the residents revealed that the major portion of the school has been illegally sold to private individuals and that the land will be handed over to them once the old buildings are demolished, he added.

Challenging the claim of the school management that the new classrooms are constructed as the school requires additional classes, the petitioner said, “If that is the case then prior permission from the state government is mandatory since it is an aided school.”
Alleging that the management of such an aided school cannot act in a commercial manner and sell the properties of the school to private individuals for commercial exploitation, the petitioner wanted the court to interfere and stop the construction and restore the school land.
