            On behalf of Advocates G. Chandrasekhar, Varsha Chandrasekhar, Supreme Court Senior Advocate C.S. Vaithiyanathan and Madras High Court Senior Advocate K. Harishankar appeared on behalf of Podhu Dikshidars.

            Senior Advocate C.S. Vaithiyanathan Submitted that the Podhu Dikshidars denominational administration of Chidambaram Temple as per the Supreme Court Judgment dated 06.01.2014 cannot be interfered by the HR&CE Department and Tamil Nadu Government is only politicizing the issue and such thing cannot be permitted.  The Podhu Dikshidars are discharging the religious functions and duties for several centuries and that cannot be interfered with the Tamil Nadu Government.  The Tamil Nadu Government is not only showing undue haste and doing politics in the pretext of devotee well fare.  This kind of political agenda of the Tamil Nadu Government the denominational temple is in violation of the Supreme Court judgment.  Further submitted that the matter can be heard on merits and adjourned to 19th February and also submitted that he will physically present to make submission before the Bench.

       Countering the submission of Learned Senior counsel,                   Tr. Arun Natarajan, Special Government Pleader, HR&CE submitted that he has no objection for adjourning the case but persisted that the Bench should pass interim order for the dharshan of devotees in Kanagasabhai till 19.02.2026.

            The Senior Counsel C.S. Vaithiyanathan reiterated why the Government showing undue haste and politicizing the issue for the purpose of making headlines in the press.

            After hearing both sides the Bench declined to pass any interim order as sought by the HR&CE department and posted the matter 19.02.2026.
