Today 13.07.2020, HCP.No.893 and 980 of 2020- Filed by foreign national prisoners who has been arrested for the violation of Foreigers act and Involved in act of spreading of virus after attending Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi. This matter came up today as Item No.15 before the Hon’ble Division Bench comprising of His Lordhship Justice M.Kirubakaran and Her lordhship Mrs.Velumani. This HCP Petition is filed by foreign nation prisoners praying for their release from the special camp which has been specially designated for keeping the foreign national prisoners. State Public Prosecutor Mr.A.Natarajan appeared for the state and Mr.Ajmal Khan Senior Advocate appeared for the petitioners. State PP submitted that the following number of foreigners where arrested till date in the state of

Malaysia – 17
Thailand – 14
Bangladesh – 14
Myanmar – 13
Ethiopia – 8
France – 5
Comoros – 3
Congo – 1
Belgium – 1
Total foreigners – 129
State PP also submitted that a Total of 14 FIR’s Registered in the State Of Tamilnadu and the State Government has decided to accomodate the foreign nation prisoners who are Tablighi Jamaat attendees in Haj service society located at choolai, Chennai. The said place has around 89 rooms and also has seprate place for ladies to stay. State PP submitted that the foreign nation prisoners will be moved to the said place within 2 to 3 days. The Haj service society located at choolai has already accepted to accomdate the attendees. State PP informed the court that a detail counter will be filed to that effect on next hearing and hence the case is
adjourned to 20.07.2020 for filing counter by the State Government.
