The judge dismissed applications filed jointly by four members of the council to grant an interim injunction against the election and to appoint some other retired judge of the High Court as Election Officer. The applicants said retired judge S. Rajeswaran had served as an election officer during the previous election too but Justice Dhanabal held that it cannot be a reason to interfere with the election process especially in the absence of any allegations against the retired judge.
