The legal fraternity of Chennai came together at Hotel Pullman on Mount Road today to honour Senior Advocate Mrs. Nalini Chidambaram as she marked a remarkable milestone: completing 80 years of age, 58 years of standing at the Bar, and 38 years as a Senior Advocate.
Advocates who have worked under her, past and present, joined together in organising this grand celebration. The event was attended by her husband Mr. P. Chidambaram, former Finance Minister of India, along with family members, friends, and several distinguished members of the legal community.
The event featured several touching tributes to Mrs. Nalini Chidambaram’s extraordinary career. Her juniors presented her with a specially crafted silver memento depicting the “Lawyer Band,” symbolising her dedication to the profession. A video chronicling her journey through life and law was screened, receiving enthusiastic applause from the gathering.
A commemorative journal featuring Mrs. Nalini Chidambaram’s photograph and words of gratitude from her junior advocates was released and distributed among the guests, serving as a testament to the profound impact she has had on those who have worked alongside her.
The event drew an impressive gathering of legal luminaries, including Mr. Vijay Narayan, former Advocate General; Mr. S. Silambannan, former Additional Advocate General; Justice M. Govindaraj; Mr. A. Abdul Hameed, Senior Advocate; Mr. Arun Natarajan, Special Government Pleader; and Mr. Hasan Fizal, Additional Government Pleader, among other dignitaries.
