ORDER:
The Government in G.O.Ms.No.361, MAWS (WS-3) Department, dated.
21.09.2011, had appointed 9 Legat Advisors for NAD Board to appear before the Hon’ble High Court of Madras and Hon’ble Madurai Bench on behalf of Board. Further the Government in G.O.Ms.No. 514, MAWS (WS-3) Department, dated:
29.12.2011 had appointed 2 Legal Advisors. Subsequently in Board Proceedings 110/TWAD Board ( Legal Cell). , dated. 14.12.2013 the Legal Advisors have been reduced to 6 Nos. The Board in B.P.Ms.No. 26, Legal Cell, dated: 26.02.2016 appointed 2 Legal Advisors. The service of Thiru D.Nandhakuar, Legal Advisor was dispensed with.

In the Board Proceedings No. B.P.Ms.No. 145, MAD (Legal Cell), dated: 04.12.2014, a sum of Rs.6,000/- (Rupees Six Thousand only) per month have been fixed as the retainer fee. The Legal Fee for other fee structures for Legal Advisors appearing on behalf of MAD Board have also been prescribed in that Board Proceedings.
The Chief Secretary to Government, Tamil Nadu in Ir. No. 26465/L.O/ Public (L.O.)Dept/2021-1, dated: 05.08.2021 has directed to ensure that no appointment of Law Officer/ Legal Advisor / Standing Counsels is made to appear individually or to assist any Law Officer in the cases on behalf of Government Departments or State Public Sector Undertakings/ Boards/ Corporations etc., without the knowledge of the Learned Advocate General of Tamil Nadu.
The Managing Director in Lr.No. F. 54670/LC/Asst/2005, dated: 02.09.2021 requested the Learned Advocate General, Government of Tamil Nadu to furnish the list of 7 Advocates of Which 5 Nos. for Hon’ble Madras High Court, Chennai and 2 Nos. for Hon’ble Madurai Bench of Madras High Court, Madurai to appoint as Legal Advisors in Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board to appear before the Hon’ble High Court of Madras & Madurai Bench.
The Learned Advocate General, Government of Tamil Nadu, vide Lr.No.Roc
No.256/AGRS/2021, dated:15.09.2021 has recommended the name of 4
Advocates for the consideration for appointment as Standing Counsel for Tamil
Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board to appear before the Hon’ble High court of Madras and the Hon’ble Madurai Bench of Madras High Court, Madurai. In that letter it is also informed by the Learned Advocate General that additional names of the Advocates for the Hon’ble Madras High Court will be recommended shortly. The details of the Advocates recommended by the Learned Advocate General of Tamil Nadu are as follows:-

No. F. 54670/LC/Asst./2005, dated: 24.09.2021 requested the Government to issue necessary orders for the above 4 Advocates for consideration for appointment as Legal Advisor/ Standing Counsel for Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board to appear before the Hon’ble High Court of Madras and the Hon’ble Madurai Bench of Madras High Court, Madurai, as recommended by the Advocate General of Tamil Nadu.
The Government in Lr. No. 22330/WS 2/2021-1, dated.13.10.2021 has
directed the Managing Director to submit the proposal along with the approval of the Board.
Due to the urgency, to appear before the Hon’ble High Courts, the proposal is placed before the Board in Circulation for consideration and approval.
The Board after careful consideration RESOLVED
1. To Request the Government for Appointment of above 4 new Legal Advisors / Standing Counsel viz Thiru. Patty B. Jeganathan, Thiru. p. Ezhil Iniyan, Thiru. R: Satheesh, Thiru. Vijay Karthikeyan for Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board to appear •before the Hon’ble High Court of. Madras & Hon’ble Madurai Bench of Madras High Court, Madurai.
2. To perhit the Managing Director to request the Government to appoint new Legal Advisor as per the list given by the Learned Advocate General subsequently.
3. To dispense with the services of earlier Counsels viz.
