CONDOLENCE MESSAGE
I am shocked and deeply saddened by the horrific murder of our fellow member of the Bar and State Bar Council of Odisha Member Shri. Pitabas Panda.
2. I was shell shocked when I heard about the said horrific — unfortunate incident, where our fellow member of the Bar was cold bloodedly murdered by two assailants in the night hours while the senior lawyer was returning to his residence. It is an utter shock to our legal fraternity that a lawyer is brutally murdered by two assailants with some ulterior motive by using guns in a close range. The said incident shows the urgent necessity for immediate legislation protecting the welfare and safety of the advocates.
3. This barbaric act done by the miscreants is not just an offence against the society, but a targeted attack on the legal community itself. The safety and dignity of Advocates has to be protected and it becomes necessary that a comprehensive legislation has to be enacted by the Parliament for the protection of lawyers.
