  The Income Tax Department told the Madras High Court it has begun a probe into Ramanathapuram MP Nawaz Kani for allegedly concealing income—discrepancies were noted between his 2019 and 2024 election affidavits. A summons has been issued; based on his questioning, further action will follow. Kani sought time to file a reply, so the hearing was postponed to next week. A separate plea by Venkatajalapathy seeking a CBI case for disproportionate assets was also deferred to next week.
