*Advocates Act, 1961:*
The Act seeks to amend and consolidate the law relating to legal practitioners in India. The Act also provides for constitution of a Bar Council-a disciplinary authority having wide powers and to whom all advocates are accountable. Every Bar Council shall be a body corporate having perpetual succession and a common seal with power to acquire and hold property, both movable and immovable and to contract, and may by the name by which it can sue and be sued.
