QUEEN case orders reserved by m sathyanarayanan and justice Hemalatha

[12/16, 14:48] Sekarreporter: Public Interest Petition moved before Madras High Court with regard to release of film namely “QUEEN” in all languages through free online Web Streaming, as the said film claims to be a biopic of Former Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Ms.Dr.J.Jayalalitha, Since now the Model Code of Conduct is in operation by virtue of Election Notification issued by the Election Commission dated 7.12.2019 for the conduct of local body Election within the State of Tamil Nadu.The point raised in the present writ petition is that, can a biopic of a Political Party Leader about her life, events and journey be allowed to stream for free when the MCC has come into operation. In an identical circumstances when the biopic of Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr.NARENDRA MODI was about to be exhibited on the verge of Lok Sabha election 2019, Pursuant to an order passed by Hon’ble Supreme Court the Election Commission of India issued an order thereby restricted any display in nature of biography/hagiography which has a potential or intended to disturb the level playing field during the Election should not be displayed in electronic media including cinematograph during the operation of MCC.
The present PIL came up before Division Bench Headed by Justice M.Satyanarayanan today and after hearing the Arguments of Mr. ARL Sundaresan for Election Commission , Satish Parasaran For Producer and director and the Counsel on Record E.Vijay Anand for writ petitioner, The Hon’ble bench reserved the case for passing orders.
