Madras High Court disposed Sun TV’s interim injunction against CSK after CSK’s MD affirmed it stopped using Jailer songs without licence; main suit adjourned to 6 Apr 2026.

[17/03, 07:55] sekarreporter1: Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy of #MadrasHighCourt disposes of an interim injunction application filed by Sun TV Network Limited against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Limited after recording Managing Director K.S. Viswanathan’s affidavit that it had stopped using the songs from Rajinikanth starrer Jailer, Jailer 2 and Coolie for its promos and that it shall not use them in future too either in their promos or on the cricket ground without obtaining licence from Phonographic Performance Limited. Senior Counsel P.S. Raman submitted the affidavit in court today. Judge adjourns the main copyright suit to April 6, 2026 for senior counsel J. Ravindran to get instructions from Sun TV as to whether the main copyright suit, seeking damages of ₹1 crore, can also be disposed of in view of CSK’s undertaking. @THChennai Backgrounder👇
