Murugadoss has approached the
Madras high court seeking
police protection in view of alleged ‘threats’ made by distributors of Tamil movie “Darbar” starring Rajinikanth.
Claiming that he had no role in distribution and other rights of the film, other than directing it, Murugadoss alleged that on February 3, over 25 people, claiming to be the distributors of the movie, trespassed into his Teynampet residence and demanded him to compensate them for the losses they had suffered due to the movie.
“The incident created a fear psychosis on the petitioner’s staff who were present in his residence. The trespassers also used filthy language and started shouting petitioner’s name creating threat to his life. The unidentified people continued to be present in front of the petitioner’s office and residence trying to damage the properties,” Murugadoss’s counsel Vijayan Subramanian said.
Admitting the plea, justice P Rajamanickam directed the Chennai police commissioner to file his reply by February 10.
In his petition, Murugadoss submitted that he was not liable for providing any money to anybody for the film in any manner whatsoever, as it was the sole obligation and liability of the producer Lyca Productions.
He further added that on February 4, he made a representation to the city police seeking adequate protection. Since no action has been taken he has moved the high court.
