- Next story : A new case has been filed in the #MadrasHighCourt complaining about encroachments on the Marina beach loop road in Chennai. The court had taken suo motu notice of the issue in 2023 and passed certain orders leading to an uproar among fishermen families who claimed a right over the road. The present petition by M. Anand, a resident of Nochikuppam, seeks to remove all illegal encroachments, unauthorized restaurants, food stalls and commercial establishments that had sprung up once again obstructing the Loop Road stretch from Lighthouse to Pattinapakkam/ Foreshore Estate. The case has been listed for hearing before Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G. Arul Murugan today. @THChennai
- Previous story A Full Bench (comprising three judges) of Justices A.D. Jagadish Chandira, G.K. Ilanthiraiyan and Sunder Mohan of #MadrasHighCourt will begin hearing from today the arguments on two important questions of law: 1. Whether the Governor is bound by the advise given by the Council of Ministers in matters relating to remission and premature release of convicts. 2. If he/she is so bound, under what circumstances does the Governor have the discretion to take a view different from the one taken by the Council of Ministers? A Division Bench of Justices M.S. Ramesh (since retired) and V. Lakshminarayanan had referred the issues to the Full Bench in September 2025 @THChennai
