Women in Criminal Law Association, an organisation of women Lawyers practicing primarily in the Supreme Court, Delhi High Court and other courts in Delhi, has condemned the custodial murder of the four persons suspected of raping and murdering a 26-year-old veterinarian in Hyderabad and unequivocally disowned the use of violence in the name of women’s rights and women’s safety.

When the plea came for hearing, Justice S Vaidyanathan pointed out that the institute was a deemed University which is entitled to fix minimum standard that may be more than what has been prescribed in the rules. Hence, the court could not sit on the administrative side and decide what were the qualifications that could be fixed for programme in PG diploma in sanitary inspector course.
