Convey my Birth Day Wishes to Senior
T.S.Sampath.
Kindly record his memoirs about his law college days and legal profession for the past 60 years.
Kindly request Senior members of Bar to video record their school studies and college days especially law college.
Many Seniors including Judges should have studied law during British or Madras Presidency time.
If they are able to record their memories as to how law students from various states studied together and professors were celebrated people, it would be treasures for the new generation lawyers.
They could be requested to video record about those days lawyers,Judges,Litigants and Court Staff from various states and functioning of Courts and Famous cases, definitely they would make us understand about the greatness and vast jurisdiction of our beloved chartered Madras High Court.
Many of us may not be knowing the areas which were under judicial arm of this Iconic Red Building and one should feel proud to be part and associated with it.
The areas judicially ruled by this magnificent architectural marvel
were:
Entire Tamilnadu except Kanniyakumari and
Pudukottai,A Princely State,
Present day Andhra Pradesh except Banganapallee,a Prnicely State,
Telegangana Districts,
Viz
Jayashankar Bhulapalli and
Bharadari Kothagudem,
Western part of Karnataka namely Mangalore,
Udupi,
Dakshin Kannada,
Bellary and
Bangalore City(til accession of Mysore Samasthan with Independent India)
Malabar area of Kerala consisting of present day distrcts,
Kannur,
Kozhikide,
Wayanadu,
Malappuram,
Palakkad and
Kasargode,
Southern part of Odisha
Consisting of
Districts of
Ganjam,
Koraput,
Gajapati,
Rayagada,
Malkangiri and
Nabarangapur.
The other areas are
Andaman Nicobar Islands(Bay of Bengal)
Lakswadeep (Arabian Sea).
While wishing Senior TS Ramasamy on his birthday a happy, healthy and peaceful life,
As a person interested in knowing our history and antiquity,
I appeal to all Seniors to record their
memories about their school and College studies, long years of practice with anecdotes.
Definitely, their recordings/writings would enrich knowledge of Young Advocates and guide them in right direction.
Many books have given first hand information about the those days system and great Lawyers,Judges and important cases written by yesteryear Advocates and Judges of Bombay and Calcutta where as such books about Madras High Court are rare.
Even if those books are available, they are not made known to others.
Therfore I appeal to all to post about the books written either by their Seniors Avocates,Elders,Judges about legal profession,Courts during British regime,
Madras Presidency time and thereafter.
Those books would be of great help to Young Advocates and other readers.
Thank You very much.
N.Kirubakaran
Retired Judge
High Court, Madras.
