Respected Sir, I pen this letter to your good selves not with ink, but with the blood and rage of every right-thinking lawyer and a conscientious person from every corner of this nation. I am a lawyer practising for 26 years now in the Madras High Court, and had the distinction of having held several elected positions, including the Vice-President, in the Madras High Court Advocates Association (MHAA). As I am a sitting MP in the Lok Sabha, I am conscious of the responsibilities of a lawmaker. I am, therefore, writing this to address a gap or vacuum in law relating to enrolment of people convicted for serious offences including acts of terrorism. April 27, 2026 shall go down in the judicial history of our great nation as a Black Day, as the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry enrolled A.G. Perarivalan is the convicted assassin of former Prime Minister Shri. Rajiv Gandhi, as an advocate on its rolls. Perarivalan is an active member of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), which is an internationally banned terrorist organisation. The ban is continuing in India as well

- The above Writ Petition in WP (MD) No. 12987 of 2026 came up for hearing before the Hon’ble Bench comprising Hon’ble Mr. Justice Satish Kumar and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Jyothi Raman. The Hon’ble Judges were pleased to adjourn the matter, directing the respondents to file an appropriate response on 16.06.2026. The petitioner-in-person, Mr. C. Selvakumar, Advocate, appeared and argued the matter. The gist of the case is that, just as a statue of Manu Needhi Cholan has been installed in the Principal Seat of this Hon’ble High Court, it is prayed that a statue of the great Pandya King Nedunchezhiyan, who stood as a symbol of justice, accountability, and unwavering adherence to righteousness, be installed at the Madurai Bench. Further, it is also sought that a statue of Kannagi, who exemplified that even a common person can question injustice and assert her rights, be installed. The installation of such statues in the Madurai Bench would serve as an inspiration and guiding example to the general public, litigants, and students of law, and would also stand as a testament to and proclamation of the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Tamil people to the world
