The Suo Motu Writ Petition pertaining to COVID-19 was came up for hearing today before the Hon’ble First Bench of Madras High Court.

On behalf of the State Govt. the Advocate General of Tamil Nadu, R Shunmugasundaram appeared before the Bench and informed about various measures taken by the government in battling this global pandemic, especially the second wave.

The AG informed that currently 43,000 beds are there and the govt. has proposed to increase 12,500 more beds. Measures were also taken to increase the oxygen supply and other drugs like Remdesivir.

The Court also inquired about the scope of procurement of vaccines. The AG assured the Court that the matter will be taken up with concerned authorities.

Also, the Court suggested the govt. to take special measures with respect to Persons with Disabilities.
