The Main grounds are that the nominees of the Bar Council were not appointed and that two non-muslims were not appointed amongst others. The Case was listed as item number 40 before the Honourable First Bench on 08/01/2025 i.e. Wednesday. Mr S. Ravi Senior Counsel appeared for M/s M. Purushothaman and J. Bindu Madhavan, counsel for petitioner. Mr PS Raman Advocate General appeared for the State of Tamil Nadu. Mr. P. Wilson, Senior Counsel appeared for the Tamil Nadu Waqf Board. Mr VT Balaji, Senior Panel Counsel for the Central Government appeared for the central government. After hearing the arguments at length, the Honorable First Bench stayed the Government Order re-constituting the TN Waqf Board as per New Amended Waqf Act for not constituting the TN Waqf Board in accordance with Section 14 of New Waqf Act and has injunted the TN Waqf Board from functioning further.
