The writ petitioner namely M/s Muthoot Exim Pvt Ltd., challenged the order of the Commissioner of Social Welfare dated 24.12.2018 and 05.02.2019. The petitioner was issued with Firm Order for supply of 20,000 nos of 8 grams gold coins for 2018-2019 under the Marriage Assistance Schemes of Government of Tamil Nadu. The petitioner did not supply the 20,000 gold coins as per the tender conditions and delayed the tender process and requested to withdraw from the tender which was rejected by the Commissioner of Social Welfare, forfeiting the EMD amount of Rs.53,00,000/- (Rupees Fifty three lakhs only) and blacklisting the petitioner company from participating in future Government Tenders and the same was challenged by the petitioner company before this Hon’ble Court in WP.No.6064 of 2019.
The above writ petition came up before the Hon’ble Mr.Justice C.V.Karthikeyan on 10.02.2020. The Learned Additional Advocate General Thiru.A.Kumar had appeared and argued on behalf of the Commissioner of Social Welfare, Chennai and assisted by E.Balamurugan, Special Government Pleader. After hearing both sides, the Hon’ble Court had dismissed the above writ petition.
