Krishnamoorthy Endowment, successfully hosted the Inaugural Annual Memorial Lecture on 29th November 2025 at the Auditorium, High Court of Madras. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Arvind P. Datar, Senior Advocate, on the theme “March of Constitutional Law – The Unknown and Remarkable Role of the Madras High Court.” The event was graced by the family members of the late Thiru. R. Krishnamoorthy, who attended the programme in honour of his memory.

The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University (TNDALU), under the aegis of the R. Krishnamoorthy Endowment, successfully hosted the Inaugural Annual Memorial Lecture on 29th November 2025 at the Auditorium, High Court of Madras. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Arvind P. Datar, Senior Advocate, on the theme “March of Constitutional Law – The Unknown and Remarkable Role of the Madras High Court.” The event was graced by the family members of the late Thiru. R. Krishnamoorthy, who attended the programme in honour of his memory.
The programme was presided over by Hon’ble Mr. Justice F.M. Ibrahim Kalifulla, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India, alongside Mr. G. Masilamani, Senior Advocate, Madras High Court. The event commenced with an invocation and lighting of the lamp, followed by a Welcome Address by Mr. K. Sundareswaran. Hon’ble Mr. Justice K. Kumaresh Babu, Judge, Madras High Court delivered a special felicitation. In his Presidential Address, Hon’ble Mr. Justice F.M. Ibrahim Kalifulla shared his reflections on the professional excellence and personal integrity of Thiru. R. Krishnamoorthy, recalling his association with him and the influence he had on various members of the legal fraternity. Justice Kalifulla also briefly touched upon the relevance of the day’s theme and the legacy of constitutional thought shaped in Chennai. The Endowment lecture by Sr Advocate Arvind P. Datar offered a richly researched and insightful narrative on lesser-known milestones in constitutional adjudication, landmark interventions of the Madras High Court, and the unique jurisprudential legacy carried forward by its judges and practitioners. Mr. G. Masilamani, Senior Advocate, in his address, reflected on the vision and professional values of Thiru. R. Krishnamoorthy and emphasised the continuing relevance of such values in strengthening constitutional scholarship and practice. Prof. Dr. Gowri Ramesh, Registrar, TNDALU, proposed the Vote of Thanks, acknowledging the dignitaries, members of the Bar and Bench, academicians, students, and the family of Thiru. R. Krishnamoorthy for their presence. She also noted that the R. Krishnamoorthy Endowment, with a corpus of Rs. 25 lakhs, is the highest-valued endowment of the University. A special acknowledgment was extended to Thiru. E. Om Prakash, Senior Advocate & Member, Convenor Committee of TNDALU who was instrumental in the organisation of the event.
The University recorded an encouraging participation from the legal community, researchers, and students. The event received warm appreciation for its intellectual engagement and is expected to develop into an annual platform that both commemorates Thiru. R. Krishnamoorthy and contributes meaningfully to advancing legal discourse.
