The Supreme Court (CJI bench )ordered notice today to DGHS , TN State Government, National Medical commission on question of extending the deadline for filling up of stray vacancies for PG medical courses after hearing arguments of Mr P. Wilson Senior Advocate appearing for Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Medical Sciences and Trichy SRM Medical College.
Mr P. Wilson submitted that the deadline fixed by DGHS for filling up of stray vacancies on 2.12.2022 could not be complied by these
Medical colleges due to stay granted in various matters by Madras HC and due to the fact that entire NEET PG merit list was not furnished to these colleges before 2.12.2022 by State Selection committee. Therefore the Petitioners approached the Madras High court and the HC on 8.12.2022 directed state selection committee to furnish the entire PG merit on same day and directed the Petitioner’s Medical colleges to admit the students subject to the time extended by Supreme Court.
Mr P. Wilson submitted that the DGHS has extended time limit only to fill up Stray vacancies Seats of the All India quota ,central /deemed universities by way of conducting special stray vacancies Counselling for NEET PG from 10.1.2023 to 14.1.2023 ; but however DGHS failed to extend similar benefits of extended time limit to the State Quota seats. He submitted that in TN more than 100 seats will go waste and there is no justification to deny the same benefits to the States who have State seats unfilled even after conducting counselling for filling up of stray vacancies .
The bench posted the matter to 16.1.2023 after ordering notice for hearing.
