[26/03, 16:06] sekarreporter1: The Madras High Court has imposed an interim stay on the trial of a case against former minister Ponmudi, who is accused of making derogatory remarks about Shaivism and Vaishnavism.

The complaint was filed by Uma Anandhan, a BJP councilor, alleging that Ponmudi made inflammatory comments about the two religious sects and women during a public event in Chennai in April 2025.

The magistrate court had earlier ordered Ponmudi to appear before it, but the High Court has now stayed the trial, directing Uma Anandhan to respond within 4 weeks.

The court is likely to hear the case further after receiving the response.
