Hon’ble Mr. Justice N.V. Ramana, senior most Judge of Supreme Court of India/ Hon’ble Executive Chairman of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) had directed to hold National Lok Adalats on 10.4.2021, on 10.7.2021, on 11.9.2021, on 11.12.2021 this year. Today, (10.4.2021) National Lok Adalats were held on all subjects matters across the State.
Following types of cases both Pre-Litigation and Pending Cases were taken up
Pre-litigation:
(i) NI Act cases under Section 138;
(ii) Money Recovery cases;
(iii) Labour and Employment disputes cases;
(iv) Electricity, Water Bills and other bill payment cases (excluding non- compoundable);
(v) Maintenance Cases;
(vi) Others (Criminal Compoundable and other Civil disputes).

Pending in the Courts/ Tribunals:
(i) Criminal Compoundable Offence;
(ii) NI Act cases under Section 138;
(iii) Money Recovery cases;
(iv) MACT cases;
(v) Labour and Employment disputes cases;
(vi) Electricity, Water Bills and other bill payment cases (excluding non- compoundable);
(vii) Matrimonial disputes (except divorce);
(viii) Land Acquisition cases (pending in District Courts and High Courts only);
(ix) Service matters relating to pay and allowances and retiral benefits;
(x) Revenue cases; (pending in District Courts and High Courts only); (xi) Other civil cases (such as rent, easmentary rights, injunction suits, specific performance suits) etc.

As per the guidance of His Lordship, the Hon’ble the Chief Justice, High Court, Madras/Patron-in-Chief of TNSLSA and as ordered by His Lordship/Hon’ble Mr. Justice R. Subbiah, Senior most Judge, High Court, Madras/Executive Chairman of TNSLSA had directed all the Legal Services Institutions across the State to hold National Lok Adalat today in all the Courts in the State of Tamil Nadu.
The High Court Legal Services Committee, Chennai had constituted 2 benches at the Principal seat of High Court, Madras consisting of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Malaisubramanian, Hon’ble Mr. Justice J.A.K. Sampath Kumar (Retired) Judges of High Court, Madras and High Court Legal Services Committee at Madurai had constituted 4 benches consisting of Hon’ble Mrs. Justice J. Nisha Banu, Hon’ble Mrs. Justice R. Tharani, Hon’ble Mrs. Justice T. Krishnavalli, Hon’ble Mrs. Justice S. Ananthi, Hon’ble Judges of High Court, Madras as presiding Judges of Lok Adalats.
In all the District Legal Services Authorities and Taluk Legal Services Committees across the State 417 benches were constituted.
In total, across the State 423 benches were constituted and cases disposed off as detailed below, as at 6.00 P.M.
