[28/09, 10:59] Supremecourt Advt Gs Mani: CBI probe sought on tragic death of 39 persons in Actor Vijay Public meeting
A Chennai based Supreme Court Lawyer GS Mani moved a petition to Prime Minister, Central Home Secretary, Director CBI, Joint Director CBI, Chennai, Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, DGP Tamilnadu & SP Karur District and sought court monitored CBI probe or SIT headed by siting or retired Judges of Supreme Court into the tragic death of 39 persons in stampede at public meeting conducted by Actor Vijay at Karur, Tamil Nadu on 27.09.2025.
In his petition he complained that “the sudden power cut during the meeting created total chaos, panic, and confusion, directly resulting in the stampede”. There is a strong and reasonable suspicions that this power cut was not accidental but deleberate and that certain state officials including police and electricity department officials and their political official bosses are involved. The local police investigation cannot be expected free, fair and impartial.
Mere registration of FIR against one organiser and one man commission appointment is an eyewash..hence cbi probe may be ordered. The petititon added.
