The profession of law is not a commercial venture for the accumulation of wealth. Law in essence is a service-oriented profession and that is the reason it is called a noble profession. Roscoe Pound touched the essence of the matter:

“ Historically, there are three ideas involved in a profession: Organization, Learning and a Spirit of Public Service. These are essential. The remaining idea, that of gaining a livelihood, is incidental”. In today’s age and times these essential truths are forgotten. We need to be reminded about the great judges and lawyers who have left their indelible footprints on our jurisprudence and also provided inspiration to succeeding judges and lawyers.
