In continuation to the Notification regarding resumption of Physical hearing in this
Hon’ble Court in ROC.No.1363/2020/RG/HC dated 29.08.2020 and as the said
Notification clearly specifies that Advocates/Parties are given option to exercise the
mode of hearing of Court proceedings, the following instructions are issued for causing
the cases for the Physical hearing of Court proceedings in the Principal Bench of
Madras High Court with effect from 07.09.2020:
I. While filing fresh cases concerning the subjects to be dealt with by Division
Benches as per the present Sitting Arrangement, Advocates/Parties are requested to
exercise option for mode of hearing (Physical hearing/hearing through Video
Conferencing) specifically in the Docket Sheet of the Petition/Grounds of Appeal
indicating as PH/VC to enable the Registry to place the case papers before the Hon’ble
Court concerned for fixing date of hearing of such case.
II. For the cases wherein dates have been fixed for hearing from 07.09.2020
onwards, Advocates/Parties who intend to argue their cases through physical hearing,
are requested to furnish a letter of consent to the Registry to argue the case through
physical hearing on that particular date of adjournment by following the instructions
issued for filing of cases vide Notification No.113/2020 dated 17.04.2020.
III. In addition to the above, the Registry, upon instructions from the Hon’ble Court
concerned will publish Advance list containing cases that are suitable for physical
hearing in the relevant page of High Court Website. Advocates/Parties are requested to
utilize the opportunity of attending the court proceedings through physical hearing to

put forth their arguments by furnishing a letter of consent to the Registry by following
the instructions issued for filing of cases vide Notification No.113/2020 dated
17.04.2020.
Notification on Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to follow while attending the court
proceedings through Physical hearing in the Principal Bench of Madras High Court
will be issued separately.
