*HON’BLE MR. JUSTICE R. SURESH KUMAR* disposed of the Writ Petition in the matter relating to *“Registration – Cancellation of Registration – Fraudulent Document – S. 77-A of Registration Act, 1908”,* and further observed and held as follows:

1) Section 77-A was included vide the Amendment of the Registration Act, 1908, through Act 41 of 2022 dated 16.08.2022, whereby, if any aggrieved party, against a fraudulent document, filed a complaint before the District Registrar, he is to enquire the matter and decide the same. If it is found that the document is bogus/fraudulent, the Registrar or the Inspector General of Registration may cancel the registration of the fraudulent document.

2) In the present case, both the Registrar and Deputy Inspector General of Registration did not follow Section 77-A and directed to go before the Civil Court or on Appeal to the Inspector General of Registration.

3) Further, held that a direction in general may be issued by the Inspector General of Registration to all District Registrars to mandatorily exercise their function under Section 77-A.
