[1/11, 15:56] Sekarreporter 1: A Public Intrest litigation was filed by one R Parthiban seeking an order challenging the Government Order issued in the year of 2019 allocating wards in favour of women exceeding 50% . The wards in Chennai Municipal corporation was 200 and out of the same 105 wards were allocated in favour women exceeding the 50% ceiling limit of reservation, therefore the same was challenged by way of writ petition. The said writ petition was heard by the Hon’ble First Bench of Chief Justice, finding a prima facie case that the said impugned Governmet Order violating the constitutional provisions which guaranteed by the fundamental rights the Hon’ble Division Bench set aside and quashed the impugned Governmet Order as unconstitutional and illegal.
