[12/22, 12:16] Sekarreporter 1: [12/22, 12:16] Sekarreporter 1: Though Justice PD Audikesavalu raised the query, Acting CJ Munishwar Nath Bhandari says, frankly, he is not convinced with the order passed by another Bench in August to constitute Press Council of Tamil Nadu. Says, such orders cannot be passed by enlarging the scope of a case.
[12/22, 12:16] Sekarreporter 1: Adjourns the case to next month to find out if there’s any law governing the subject.
[12/22, 12:16] Sekarreporter 1: ACJ wants to know from lawyers if there’s any legislation which permits State level press council. Journalist turned lawyer @Sanjay_Pinto says he has never come across any such law.
[12/22, 12:16] Sekarreporter 1: Judges make it clear that they will suo motu review the order if no statutory provisions are available to constitute Press Council of Tamil Nadu. Requests the Bar and counsel for Press Council of India to assist the court.
