The Madras High Court has been moved seeking to conduct RT-PCR test compulsorily on all the international passengers and crew of aircrafts and vessels coming from any country at the arrival port, and announce mandatory seven-day institutional quarantine for all the asymptomatic passengers at their own cost.

Pointing out that some have no symptoms and on average it takes 5–6 days for it to emerge and up to 14 days in some cases, the plea sought for a direction to the government to ensure that all passengers coming from abroad were subjected to mandatory institutional quarantine.
All passengers need to be screened and if found symptomatic, they should be subjected to RT-PCR test, the plea said. It is likely to come up for hearing before the vacation bench comprising Justice R Mahadevan and Justice Anita Sumanth on Thursday.
