SUB : Require CBI Enquiry to investigate as State Police cannot bring the truth in the 40 people Stampede Death Case of T.V.K. Political Campaign at Velusanypuram in Karur District – Reg.

This is to State that at Karur District in Velusamypuram, Karur–Erode highway, thousands of people gathered in the actor turned politician, Vijay, Tamizhaga Vetri Khazagam rally.

The Police, of Karur District, issued permission for the meet with nearly about 21 guidelines, including the Venue for the meet. It is understood that Tamizhaga Vetri Khazagam has asked a different place for the meet, near roundtana, but the administration, Police allowed to conduct the meet at this Velusamypuram.

As permitted, the actor turned politician, Vijai after completing his campaign at Namakkal District, his Vehicle reached Velusamypuram, Karur, campaign venue late since the entire road was blocked by heavy crowd. it was unprecedented voluntary assembled crowd. When an ambulance passed through near the meet, the crowd giving way were messed up and as there was a ditch in existence on another side, crowd fell in the ditch and ended in Stampede, where nearly 40 death has caused, including 8 children’s and many causalities were reported.

There was no adequate Police force was deployed. As of the statement of Police, Mr.Vijai reached very late to the venue, due to which exhaustion as there was no drinking water and food, people got fainted and calamity happened. If that is the case, the police should have taken initiative in dispersing the people converged.

It is also to be stated that Tamizhaga Vetri Khazagam has already held such campaign meets at Trichy, Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur, where huge people converged. The police should have taken lessons from the earlier meetings of Tamizhaga Vetri Khazagam meets and how people converge. The Police has miserably failed to choose and permit the requisite venue. The Police has not deployed adequate Police force in controlling the crowd. As for the knowledge only 500 policemen were in duty at the venue of the meet. The venue permitted do not have provision for the crowd to rush or run in such calamity. Also there is news report that a sabotage would have been planned since Tamizhaga Vetri Khazagam was vehemently propagating against the ruling party and a Stalwart is the District Secretary of the ruling Party in Karur.

Hon’ble Chief Minister immediately after coming to know about the incident in a hurried manner, within few hours, in the late evening, appointed a Retired Judge as an one man commission, where on a Similar Such incident of 65 people death at Kallakurichi, due to consumption of illicit arrack not acted upon in this manner.

The Police who were instrumental in selecting and deciding the venue, issuing permission for not deploying adequate police force in controlling the crowd, for their own dereliction of duty and such mishap, if investigates, cannot bring out the truth and punish. The appointed One-man commission is not an investigation agency to get wrong doers punished. It is respectfully submitted that the right agency to investigate the matter is Central Bureau of Investigation, the Central Agency.

Therefore, it is respectfully pray that this Hon’ble Registry may be pleased to place this matter Before the Hon’ble Court to take up Suo Moto to appoint CBI as investigating agency and render Justice.
