Madras HC raps police for perfunctory probe, acquits murder convict
Madurai, Sep 09 (UNI) Madurai Bench of Madras High Court on Tuesday rebuked the police for perfunctory investigation and set aside the conviction and sentence of a man in a murder case.
“We are taking pride that the Tamil Nadu state police is one of the best investigation agenc8ies in the world and it is because of the exemplary service rendered by our police officers and at the same time, we cannot allow this reputation of the agency to be eroded by some irresponsible officers,” said Justice B.Pugalendhi while hearing the appeal filed by one Balamurugan challenging his conviction and five years jail sentence awarded by Sivaganga district court in 2014 for a murder committed in 2010.
Though the purpose of investigation is to bring out the truth, in the case on hand, it has been obliterated and the investigation had proceeded in a casual manner according to the whims and fancies of the investigation agency, the Judge said.Please log in to get detailed story.
